Dr. Rivera graduated Magna Cumlaude from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus with a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics, she completed the post-graduate training nutrition and dietetic internship from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus, with a Leadership award. She worked as a Nutritionist for almost 2 years. Then she studied Medicine at the Iberoamerican University, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Dr. Rivera did a rotatory medical internship at the Auxilio Mutuo Hospital, San Juan, PR. She did a Residency in internal medicine at Damas Hospital, Ponce, PR, achieving a resident of the year award. Dr. Rivera completed her fellowship at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System, San Juan, PR with the Professionalism and scholarly activity award.

Dr. Rivera completed the 3 months Advance Diagnostic Bronchoscopy Fellowship from Harvard-BIDMC section of Interventional Pulmonology, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Rivera is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
