Thanksgiving 2020 is shaping up to be an unusual feast, for sure.  We realize the Coronavirus concerns might be making the celebration smaller for you and your family. You might be giving up long-anticipated travel. Additionally, you might be missing out on the presence of special friends and relatives from far away.

Indeed, even as we anticipate the coming vaccines for COVID-19, we see symptoms of quarantine fatigue everywhere.

Therefore, we would be remiss if we did not remind you that the spirit of Thanksgiving does not take place on a big trip. It does not manifest itself in a huge, sumptuous feast. Instead, we find it in the hearts and minds of people who express gratitude for simple things, like breath and life itself.

November is a Special Time to Remember the Joy We Take in Every Patient’s Healthy Breath. Happy Thanksgiving 2020.

Thanksgiving 2020:  The FLASS Attitude of Gratitude

FLASS, The Florida Lung, Asthma and Sleep Specialists, your healthcare providers, and their amazing staff join to send you warm-hearted Thanksgiving wishes and gratitude for your support and friendship all year long. Certainly, there can be no better time to express our thanks to patients and their families, to friends and associates, to honored colleagues and vendors.

We’d also like to honor and thank the American Lung Association.

They have championed lung health for more than 115 years.  Likewise, they have funded 73 research grants through their research program.

We also salute the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE initiative, which we spoke about in our previous blog article.  Learn more about how it “is uniting women and their loved ones across the country to stand together against lung cancer, the #1 cancer killer of women and men in the U.S.”

We are thankful this year and every year for your charitable support.  With such organizations, FLASS hopes to do our small part to raise your awareness about lung cancer and other respiratory diseases.  Only with their research and your support can we hope to defeat this killer disease.  Find out more about trending research at this helpful online resource.

Two Holiday Suggestions, (Our Gifts) for Your Thanksgiving 2020 Holiday

FLASS is sending you two wonderful suggestions in honor of your healthy heart and lungs over the coming Holiday. We extend these two suggestions as our Thanksgiving gifts to you. No matter how many members of your family are in your coronavirus bubble, we know you will have a special Thanksgiving dinner. Both before and after that dinner, FLASS invites you to show your lungs some thanks.

1. Thanksgiving 2020:  A Good Morning for Your Lungs and Breath

In the morning we suggest you take a brisk little walk while you organize the final lists of your Thanksgiving Day chores.

  • Your lungs will love it!
  • Plus, you will reduce your stress level. You also require breakfast on Thanksgiving.
  • Starving your system with the idea of saving calories up for the big meal is a fallacy. Did you know that such deprivation will cause you to over-eat at dinner?

2. After Your Thanksgiving 2020 Meal: Let’s Get Physical!

May Your Thanksgiving Morning Walk Bring You the Joy of Breath.

A little while after the meal, find some time to participate in a family walk, hike, or bike ride. These are such good activities for your lungs, to show thanks for your life and breath. Doing something physical instead at this time instead of just sitting in front of the television.

You can pump life into your lungs and heart. (We won’t even mention the possibility you might reduce a few calories.) Physical activity is a gift you can give to yourself and the others around you.

Enjoy a bit of nature on this special day of gratitude. Even if you simply walk in the neighborhood or a nearby park, you might start a family tradition during Thanksgiving 2020.

Special Thoughts and Thanksgiving Day Wishes

Again, the staff and the doctors here in Orlando, Florida offer you the finest of Thanksgiving wishes. As is often our custom, we have re-discovered our favorite, thought-provoking quotes to share with you, our friends, patients, and blog readers.

“Happiness is the realization of God in the heart.

Happiness is the result of praise and thanksgiving,

of faith, of acceptance; a quiet tranquil realization of the love of God.”

Make Thanksgiving 2020 a Healthy Celebration.

Happy Thanksgiving 2020

Happy Thanksgiving 2020 to You and Your Families from all of us and our families at FLASS, where we think of you as family!

“T is for Thanks for time together, turkey, talk n tangy weather.
H means harvest stored away, home, hearth, and holiday.
A is for autumn’s frosty art and abundance in the heart.
N must be for neighbors, November, nice things to remember.
K symbolizes the kitchen kettle’s croon, kith, and kin expected soon.
S is for the sizzles, sight, and sound–something special all about.
That spells THANKS for joy in living and a bountiful Thanksgiving.”
