The doctors and staff of FLASS have been featuring information about asthma during this beautiful month of May, because many global organizations are using this month to heighten public awareness about the disease of asthma.

The American Lung Association is one of those organizations constantly working for better information, advocacy and research in regard to this condition.

Out of the more than 25 million people known to suffer asthma in America, you might be surprised to realize more than 7 million of them are just kids.

It also might actually shock some people to realize that Asthma is the third leading cause of hospitalization among children under the age of 15! Imagine that!

Not climbing trees and breaking arms! Not falling off bikes and out of swings! These “kids” are just trying to breathe, in and out, naturally and normally, and the effort, combined with their allergy triggers, sends them to emergency room! Only more research and advocacy will prevent this from happening.

Additionally, asthma attacks and difficulties are a major reason for school absences.

“That’s why this May—Asthma Awareness Month—the American Lung Association has set out to bring greater awareness of this disease.”

Florida Lung, Asthma & Sleep Specialists join the American Lung Association and other agencies to ensure people with asthma have access to the informative resources that are key controlling their disease.

At FLASS we can devise a treatment plan that will help you, your primary doctor, your nutritionist, and your family pursue an active, healthy lifestyle.

This is not just for the asthma month of May! FLASS has made a lifetime commitment to making a difference for people living with asthma.

Below are some wonderful resources of information for you and your family if you are suffering from asthma.
