Happy Independence Day 2021!  Truly, it is a great date to celebrate.  And it’s almost time. Every year, we celebrate July 4th with Fun, Food, Family, and Fireworks.  We at FLASS take this moment to wish you a Happy, Healthy, and Safe July 4, 2021.  In fact, we dedicate the entire first week of July to Independence Day joy.

 

A Momentous COVID-19 Independence Day

Why is Independence Day, 2021 a momentous date?  It means more to many Americans because we have finally reached a turning point in the Pandemic.

Happy Independence Day! It’s a Perfect Date to Celebrate.

Many areas of the country are open again.  We see the light at the end of the tunnel, even though some areas still maintain Covid-19 restrictions.  Therefore, this Independence Day is hereby imbued with new significance and special meaning.

As the country opens up again, Independence Day is a great date to celebrate! It’s time for fine celebrations.  We know you will cherish the fun and warm memories you make with family and friends during this patriotic holiday. Festive food and fireworks will fill our senses and add a new-found joy to the holiday.

 

Independence Day Deserves Special Honor

Therefore, in honoring Independence day, we have set aside our usual topics for this blog. And, instead, this issue focuses on July Fourth wishes, a few shouts about Freedom, and an issue on highway safety.

 

What Does Independence Day Really Mean?

 

Healthy Advice from FLASS: Remember the sunscreen as well as the cold drinks.

This time is a thrilling, grilling, fun time for picnics, barbecues, cook-outs, parades, and parties. July 4th is also a time to feel delighted in the liberty and freedom that is part of the legacy of this country.

May all the fireworks and festivities give you pleasure and joy.  However, we also hope you and your family find a moment to examine what it really means to be an American.

Unashamed Patriotism:  Our Great Date to Celebrate: July 4, 2021 Reflections

We have discovered that freedom, like beauty, is a very individualized concept, special in differing ways, to different people. Let’s take a look at a few appropriate comments.

On one hand, to John Wayne, July 4 style meant, “Sure I wave the American flag!  Do you know a better flag to wave?  Sure I love my country with all her faults. I’m not ashamed of that, never have been, never will be. “Now that is a philosophy that is difficult to fault.

 

Presidential Comments on July 4 Celebration

On the other hand, let’s take a quick look at some presidential thoughts that are perfect for this celebratory time.

1.  President Harry S. Truman stated, “America was not built on fear.”  And he added, “America was built on courage, on imagination, and an unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.”

2.  Many years later, President Bill Clinton said, “There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.” We at FLASS agree.

3.  Then, not long ago, President Ronald Reagan summed it up well with these words. “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream.”  He explained, “It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. Or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”

 

Independence Day Travel:  Expect the Unexpected

We remind you that travel in some local and state areas might still require some restrictions.

At FLASS, Independence Day is a great Date to Celebrate Our Freedom, Teamwork, Diversity and Health.

Plus, there are special cautions from the CDC about the Delta Variant.  If you are not vaccinated but still travel, they recommend:

  • Social Distancing.
  • Mask-wearing of course.
  • Wash your hands faithfully. And get tested for exposure to COVID-19 both before and after travel.
  • Get Vaccinated as soon as possible.

Remember. Vaccinated or not, current policy states that masks must be worn on planes, buses, trains, and public transportation.

 

Holiday Travel Tips

Without sounding too preachy, we have a few tips to help you have a healthy and safe Independence Day Holiday.

 

The Life You Save Could Be Your Own:  Drive Carefully

AAA projects that more than 47.7 million Americans travel between Friday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 4…  The 2021 travel forecast is expected to meet and exceed pre-Pandemic records.

Drive safely and “Arrive Alive,” is a long-standing slogan on Orlando roadways.  Our advice is to leave early due to record-breaking crowds on the road.

Health Warning: Please Do Not Drink and Drive as You Celebrate July Fourth. Do Not Become a Statistic.

Additionally, wherever you go for your July 4 celebration:

  • Travel the speed limit.
  • Naturally, we hope you avoid alcohol while driving and stay focused behind the wheel. (Likewise, avoid Texting and Driving.)
  • Rule of life, “You Must Buckle Up! Click it or Ticket!”

So, we join the highway patrolmen in the belief that buckling your seatbelt can really save your life. In fact, we actually heard a highway patrolman state, “I have never unbuckled a dead body.” That gave us chills, even in this July Fourth Holiday heat.

By the way, did you know that a recent study revealed that 59 percent of the people killed in US car accidents, during the weekend of July 4th, were not wearing seat belts?
